Update – August 2018

Dear Friends,

We hope you are doing well and getting ready to say good bye to summer. Here in Guatemala, it never feels like summer because it gets dark at 6:30 pm and because of the rainy season, the temperatures are always cool.

Other ministries visit our Feeding Program

In the last couple of weeks, two different mission teams that have heard about us, came to see what our feeding program was like. I was very impressed that these two unrelated groups, prayed for the children beforehand.

We had a Joy Fair at the Children’s Club

This was a surprise for the kids that come regularly. We made snow cones, used the bounce house and jumped on the trampoline. We painted faces, played bingo, and had a bean bag toss with prizes, cookies, candy and other treats.

Developing a men’s ministry in the church

We decided to have our meeting in the park with a hot dog / sausage type mix called “shucos”.  This is definitely a “Latin thing” and a can of pop.

On a personal level:

  • In the next days, we have some immigration issues coming up that are very sensitive. We need the Hand of God on this one, for sure.
  • At our house, we are downsizing, going through boxes, throwing and giving away stuff that we have accumulated over the  last 28 years on the field. Its liberating!
  • We appreciate your financial support and the confidence you have in us.

Indebted,

Mike and Pat Black
