Update July 2021

Dear Friends,

Here are some neat things we would like to share with you.

What touched our hearts in recent days

As our church in Guatemala is seeing an uptick of spiritual movement, I gave an altar call for any of our visitors to receive Jesus Christ as their Savior.  On the first call and without hesitation, two children, one about 12 years old and another about 8, came forward.

An usher talked with the oldest as she came down to the front and she seemed to know exactly what she was doing. We prayed with them and they recited the prayer with confidence.

Jesus said, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.” And he placed his hands on their heads and blessed them before he left.”

Matthew 19:14-15

Pat and I went to the States for some R and R

We spent the 4th of July in Nebraska and in South Dakota with our two boys, Luke and Bart, and what I would like to share out of this experience was seeing the patriotism during that weekend.

Lawns were covered with American flags.  I saw family picnics on front lawns, pavilion picnics and children running through sprinklers. So American for us.

This particular weekend was very refreshing and a great change from the socialist narrative that we hear about every day.

Going down a lazy river in a tub, why not?

How important are our visits to our Piedra Ancha project?

We recently had a summer “Splash” activity planned for the children which involved water games, food and other surprises, when suddenly, a huge rainstorm filled the river and washed away the road that is in the river

Well, the men of this community offered several times to clear a path for us in the river so that we could get to their village.  Well, it never happened because another rain made this possibility impossible.

We are going to meet with about 100 kids and some of their parents in two weeks. We can get halfway up the mountain and they will come down  and we will have a different activity.

In conclusion:

I’d just like to mention that Guatemala is experiencing a horrible spike of Covid. There are about 3,000 cases a day. Two months ago, we were at about 500 a day.

Thank you so much for believing in us and helping us with your generous offerings. We live overwhelmed with your steady faithfulness to us and world missions.  God bless you,

Missionaries Mike and Pat
